About the Role

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Fire Safety Maintenance Technician. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting repairs and upgrades related to fire risk in various properties, including occupied and vacant housing as well as Council-owned premises.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting surveys and assessments to identify and mitigate fire hazards
  • Repairing and upgrading fire doors and structural components to ensure compliance with fire regulations and best practices
  • Staying up-to-date with building codes and safety standards to ensure the highest level of safety
  • Documenting work accurately and diagnosing building faults to develop cost-effective solutions
  • Providing excellent customer care and representing the repairs service

Requirements

  • Competence in multi-skilled fire safety repairs, including inspecting and replacing fire doors and installing door closures and intumescent strips
  • Experience in maintenance within occupied properties
  • Physical fitness for manual tasks and knowledge of Health & Safety principles and building maintenance sequencing
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent customer care, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with using technology, such as PDAs, for work management
