The Role: Lead Level Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Level Designer to join our team and contribute to the development of an exciting new LEGO game based on a major IP. As a key member of the design team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the gameplay experience and bringing our vision to reality.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with the Assistant Design Director to ensure that the game's vision is effectively communicated and implemented throughout the level design process.
  • Lead a team of talented level designers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to foster their growth and development.
  • Establish clear design guidelines and best practices for the level design team, promoting consistency and excellence in all aspects of game development.
  • Work closely with other disciplines, such as art, engineering, and production, to ensure seamless integration and a cohesive gameplay experience.
  • Conduct regular reviews and provide constructive feedback to the level design team, ensuring that their work meets the highest quality standards.
  • Oversee the development process, tracking progress, identifying potential roadblocks, and implementing solutions to maintain project momentum.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the game by fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Skills & Experience
  • Extensive experience in level design for AAA console or PC titles, with a proven track record of successful shipped projects.
  • A deep understanding of game design principles, including layout, combat, encounter design, balancing, flow, difficulty, progression, and usability.
  • A passion for creating fun and engaging games that appeal to a wide audience, particularly children and families.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4 or 5 is highly desirable.
