Job Title: Surgical Care Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Care Practitioner to join our team at A24Group Medical Staffing Agencies. As a key member of our Orthopaedic service, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality perioperative care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide surgical interventions using advanced skills and expert knowledge.
  • Act as first or second assistant in specialist orthopaedic surgery, utilizing your expertise to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Liaise with the orthopaedic nursing team and other professionals to coordinate pre- and post-operative care, arranging investigations and clinic appointments as needed.
  • Conduct preoperative and postoperative assessments and counseling of patients and carers, providing personalized support and guidance.
  • Prescribe medications using your expertise and evidence-based practice, once qualified as a Non-Medical Prescriber.
  • Prepare discharge letters, prescriptions, and post-operative advice for elective surgery on base wards and day case.
  • Develop and maintain theatre/surgical skills, including understanding 'theatre discipline' and the roles and responsibilities of all team members.
  • Audit your own and others' practice, ensuring high standards of patient care and safety.
  • Contribute to service development in the specialist field, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Provide specialist education and training to nursing and junior medical staff, sharing your expertise and knowledge to support their development.
Requirements:
  • Essential criteria: Degree or relevant experience, Registered Nurse/ODP, Surgical Care Practitioner Course.
  • Desirable criteria: Theatre experience, Orthopaedic experience, SFA skills, Non-Medical Prescribing, Clinical skills, Surgical skills.
