We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Care Practitioner to join our team in the Orthopaedic service. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality perioperative care to our patients.
Key Responsibilities:- Work as a first or second assistant in specialist orthopaedic surgery
- Liaise with the orthopaedic nursing team and other professionals pre and post-operatively
- Prescribe medications using expertise and evidence-based practice
- Prepare discharge letters, prescriptions, and post-op advice for elective surgery
- Develop and implement service development initiatives in specialist orthopaedic care
- Provide specialist education and training to nursing and junior medical staff
- Experience in theatre settings and/or orthopaedic care
- Ability to work under direct or proximal supervision of a Consultant Surgeon or Specialist Registrar/SHO
- Competency to assess and initiate management pathways for simple lacerations, finger ligament injuries, and fractures
- Non-medical prescribing qualification
- Opportunity to work in a busy and dynamic orthopaedic service
- Support and supervision throughout the 2-year surgical care practitioner course
