Job Title: Surgical Care Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Care Practitioner to join our team in the Orthopaedic service. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality perioperative care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work as a first or second assistant in specialist orthopaedic surgery
  • Liaise with the orthopaedic nursing team and other professionals pre and post-operatively
  • Prescribe medications using expertise and evidence-based practice
  • Prepare discharge letters, prescriptions, and post-op advice for elective surgery
  • Develop and implement service development initiatives in specialist orthopaedic care
  • Provide specialist education and training to nursing and junior medical staff
Requirements:
  • Experience in theatre settings and/or orthopaedic care
  • Ability to work under direct or proximal supervision of a Consultant Surgeon or Specialist Registrar/SHO
  • Competency to assess and initiate management pathways for simple lacerations, finger ligament injuries, and fractures
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification
