About the Role

Transport for Wales is seeking a highly skilled Government Relations Manager to lead our government relations with the UK and Welsh Government senior officials. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing advice on government affairs, developing and delivering events, and producing briefings for Ministers and senior officials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice on government affairs, including drafting and reviewing correspondence with UK and Welsh Governments.
  • Lead the development and delivery of events, including minute taking and producing briefings for Ministers and senior officials.
  • Draft weekly updates for Ministers and officials, highlighting potential positive stories to raise the profile and trust of Transport for Wales.
  • Deliver robust programmes, including meetings and targeted communications, to inform Welsh Government officials of Transport for Wales developments.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience of working in the public sector and of working with government officials and Ministers.
  • Understanding of Welsh and UK Government procedures and protocols, as well as the political environment in both Wales and England.
  • Ability to lead on the development and delivery of materials to inform the wider business of best practice approaches and the requirements of Government.
  • Demonstrable experience of establishing and maintaining effective relationships and communicating with a wide range of colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.

Welsh Language Skills

While not essential, the ability to speak and write Welsh would be a valuable asset in this role. Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language and offers opportunities for employees to develop and improve their skills.
