About the Role

Transport for Wales is seeking a skilled Government Relations Manager to lead on our government relations with the UK and Welsh Government senior officials. The successful candidate will provide advice on government affairs, draft and review correspondence, and lead the development and delivery of events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice on government affairs by drafting and reviewing correspondence from UK and Welsh Governments.
  • Lead the development and delivery of events, including meetings and targeted communications.
  • Draft weekly updates for Ministers and officials, working across Transport for Wales to identify, develop, and create positive stories to raise the profile and trust of Transport for Wales with the UK and Welsh Governments.
  • Deliver robust programmes, including meetings and targeted communications, to inform Welsh Government officials of Transport for Wales developments and ensure they feel trusted and confident in our capabilities.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience of working in the public sector and of working with government officials and Ministers.
  • Understanding of Welsh and UK Government procedures and protocols and of the political environment in both Wales and England.
  • The ability to lead on the development and delivery of materials to inform the wider business of best practice approaches and the requirements of Government.
  • Demonstrable experience of establishing and maintaining effective relationships and communicating with a wide range of colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.

Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would be a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role. Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve, and maintain their Welsh Language skills.
