The successful candidate will join our research team in the Department of Law at Northumbria University, working on the PROBabLE Futures Keystone Project. This UKRI-funded project aims to develop a framework for understanding the implications of uncertainty in Probabilistic AI in law enforcement, with a focus on justice and responsibility.
About the TeamThe Northumbria Law School is one of the largest law schools in the UK, with a strong reputation for research excellence. Our research interests are focused around three groupings: Northumbria Centre for Evidence and Criminal Justice Studies, Law in Emerging Contexts, and Technology and Law and Society.
About YouWe are seeking a highly qualified individual with a PhD in law or equivalent experience, and specialist expertise in law and technology, as well as legal, ethical, and operational issues related to AI in law enforcement and the public sector.
- Conduct individual and collaborative research projects, including analysis of literature, case-law, and policy documentation.
- Undertake travel to conduct interviews, investigations, and workshops, resulting in high-quality outputs that meet the terms of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise.
- Contribute to the development of the project framework, project communications, and outputs.
- Disseminate research results through publications, presentations, and other media.
- Develop links with external organisations and contribute to partner and funder engagement activities.
