About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our dynamic research team within the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences. You will play a crucial role in the NIHR-funded In2Air project, investigating the impact of 'net-zero' household energy interventions on indoor air quality, health, and well-being.
As part of this multidisciplinary project, you will be responsible for managing a network of low-cost air quality sensors and engaging with participants recruited from communities across Newcastle upon Tyne. Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Managing the deployment and maintenance of low-cost air quality sensors.
- Conducting data analysis of sensor readings to identify trends and patterns in indoor air quality.
- Facilitating workshops, interviews, and public events to engage with participants and gather valuable insights.
- Contributing to the development of research methodologies and techniques.
- Preparing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Disseminating research findings through presentations and other channels.
About the Team
The In2Air project is a collaborative effort involving researchers from the Faculty of Engineering and Environment, including the Departments of Geography, Computing, and the Built Environment. We also partner with esteemed institutions such as Newcastle University, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the Building Research Establishment, and Newcastle City Council.
About You
We are seeking a highly qualified candidate with:
- A PhD (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field such as environmental science, public health, or data analytics.
- Demonstrable expertise in air quality monitoring, quantitative research methods, programming, and/or data analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and community members.
- A passion for conducting impactful research that addresses real-world challenges.
