This UKRI-funded project aims to develop a framework for understanding the implications of uncertainty in Probabilistic AI in law enforcement, with a focus on justice and responsibility.
About the TeamThe Northumbria Law School is one of the largest law schools in the UK, with a strong research profile and a wide range of academic and professional programs. Our research interests are focused around three groupings: Northumbria Centre for Evidence and Criminal Justice Studies, Law in Emerging Contexts, and Technology and Law and Society.
About YouWe are seeking a highly qualified candidate with a PhD in law or equivalent experience, and specialist expertise in law and technology, as well as legal, ethical, and operational issues related to AI in law enforcement and the public sector. The successful candidate will have excellent research skills, including the ability to analyze literature, case-law, and policy documentation, and to conduct interviews and investigations.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake individual and collaborative research projects, including analysis of literature, case-law, and policy documentation, and conducting interviews and investigations.
- Contribute to the development of the project framework, and to project communications and outputs.
- Disseminate research results through publications, presentations, and other means.
- Develop links with external organizations and contribute to partner and funder engagement activities.
