The successful candidate will join our research team in the Department of Law, working on the UKRI-funded Responsible AI UK Keystone project, PROBabLE Futures. This project aims to develop a framework for understanding the implications of uncertainty and building confidence in future Probabilistic AI in law enforcement, with a focus on justice and responsibility.
About the TeamThe role will be based within the Northumbria Law School, one of the largest law schools in the UK, with a strong research focus on law and technology. The team is committed to advancing knowledge and understanding in this area, and the successful candidate will contribute to this effort.
About YouWe are seeking an experienced researcher with specialist skills in AI law, who can contribute to the delivery of this project. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in law or equivalent experience, and demonstrable expertise in law and technology, as well as legal, ethical, and operational issues raised by the use of AI in law enforcement and the public sector.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct individual and collaborative research projects, including analysis of literature, case-law, regulatory and policy documentation, and undertaking travel to conduct interviews, investigations, and workshops.
- Contribute to the development of the project framework, and to project communications and outputs.
- Disseminate research results through publications, presentations at conferences, and other appropriate channels.
- Develop links with external organisations and contribute to partner and funder engagement activities.
