The successful candidate will join our research team as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Law, working on the UKRI-funded Responsible AI UK Keystone research project 'PROBabLE Futures - Probabilistic AI Systems in Law Enforcement Futures'. This project aims to develop a framework to understand the implications of uncertainty and build confidence in future Probabilistic AI in law enforcement, with the interests of justice and responsibility at its heart.
About the TeamThe role will be based within the Northumbria Law School, one of the largest law schools in the UK, which has a strong research focus and a vibrant postgraduate research community. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a team of experienced researchers and academics, and contribute to the development of the project framework and outputs.
About YouWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced researcher with specialist skills in AI Law, who has a strong track record of research and publication in this area. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Law or equivalent experience, and will be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the legal and ethical issues surrounding the use of AI in law enforcement.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct individual and collaborative research projects, including analysis of literature, case-law, regulatory and policy documentation, and undertake travel to conduct interviews, investigations and workshops.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external organisations and contribute to partner and funder engagement activities.
- Disseminate the results of research and scholarly activity through publications, presentations at conferences, and other appropriate channels.
- Participate in wider research group activities, where appropriate.
