Industrial Placement Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated undergraduate student to join our team at the Central Laser Facility. As a member of our Octopus team, you will have the opportunity to work with advanced fluorescence microscopy techniques and support researchers across the UK and Europe.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of multiplexing imaging for super resolution microscopy, as well as conducting research projects involving imaging of biological samples, optimisation of immunolabelling and multicolour super resolution microscopy.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cell culture, immunolabelling techniques, microscope operation, and image processing and analysis.
Essential Requirements:
- Currently enrolled on an undergraduate degree course and returning to university/studies to complete your undergraduate degree following the placement
- Required or have requested to take an industrial placement year
- Have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement
- Able to commence employment in summer 2025
- The candidate must be taking a relevant Life Sciences degree
- An interest in photo physics/biophysics
- Good record keeping skills
- Good time/workload management skills
- Self-motivation and a creative/flexible approach to overcoming challenges
Desirable Requirements:
- An interest in research standards and quality control
- An interest in multidisciplinary science
