Job Summary

The Tissue Viability Support Nurse will play a vital role in the prevention of avoidable pressure ulcers and the management of complex wounds and leg ulcers within a clinic or community setting. This position requires a skilled and experienced nurse to deliver training and provide specialist advice to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist advice on best practice in tissue viability, adhering to local and national guidelines.
  • Ensure safe practice within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and trust policies.
  • Contribute to the prevention of pressure ulcers and provide specialist advice to staff, patients, and carers.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate clinical care holistically.
  • Support innovations and improvements in wound care, including the assessment and evaluation of wound care products and equipment.

Person Specification
  • Master's degree in a relevant clinical specialty or equivalent combination of postgraduate diplomas, courses, and experience.
  • Registered Nurse with extensive experience as a tissue viability nurse.
  • Post-registration course in wound management or leg ulcer management.
  • Independent non-medical prescriber or willingness to undertake.
  • Excellent organizational skills, care planning, and caseload management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and as an autonomous practitioner.
