Research Assistant / Associate in Climate Compatible Growth (CCG)

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant/Associate to join our team at the International Society for Industrial Ecology. The successful candidate will be part of the Climate Compatible Growth (CCG) programme, a collaborative research initiative involving leading UK universities and KTH Sweden.

The CCG programme is funded by the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), which aims to support investment in sustainable energy and transport systems to meet development priorities in the Global South. The key partner countries in CCG are Kenya, Zambia, Ghana, Lao PDR, Viet Nam and India, where joint research projects are in place.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting research on critical material production and supply chains
  • Developing academic and policy writing skills
  • Collaborating with institutions in selected CCG partner countries

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A PhD in Engineering or a related field, or be close to obtaining one
  • Knowledge and experience in environmental assessment, emissions accounting, and tools of Industrial Ecology
  • Programming skills in languages such as Python, MATLAB, or R, as well as software control and GIS-type software
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience working with multicultural partners and research institutes
  • Evidence of potential to produce and clearly communicate high-quality research outputs

Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD has been awarded.
