Aquatic Ecology Team Lead Opportunity


Ricardo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aquatic Ecologist to lead our team in delivering expert aquatic ecology services to clients across the UK and internationally.


Key Responsibilities



  • Provide technical leadership across the aquatic ecology team to deliver expertise in investigations, survey programming, design, and assessment.
  • Act as technical lead for the production of consent-related technical assessments, such as Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA) and Water Framework Directive (WFD) assessments.
  • Develop and implement business development strategies to grow the team and attract new clients.
  • Lead and develop teams, supporting and training junior staff to achieve their full potential.

Requirements



  • Relevant degree and/or postgraduate qualification in ecology or a related field.
  • Demonstrable commercial consultancy experience and Full Membership of CIEEM and/or Chartered Ecologist status.
  • Extensive knowledge of UK and EU Wildlife Legislation, planning policies, licensing requirements, and best practice survey techniques.
  • Experience working on large-scale environmental projects, with a strategic mindset to contribute to wider team leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent Ricardo and its clients to key stakeholders.
