Job Summary

NHS Blood and Transplant is a leading organization in the UK's blood donation network. As a Blood Production Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient collection, processing, and distribution of blood components to hospitals across England.

Main Responsibilities

  • Process and issue blood donations to hospitals, working closely with your supervisor and team members to ensure seamless operations.
  • Support and train less experienced staff to develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Perform precise and repetitive tasks, such as manipulating equipment and blood samples, on a regular basis.
  • Handle blood bags and equipment, adhering to strict protocols and procedures.
  • Work variable hours, including weekends and bank holidays, as per the roster within the department.
  • Manually handle equipment weighing up to 13 kgs, with or without mechanical aids, after receiving proper training.

About You

Experience and Knowledge

  • Previous experience in a pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or laboratory environment would be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other IT systems is essential.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment and adhering to strict procedures would be beneficial.

Qualifications and Training

  • A Level or NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject area, or extensive experience in a logistics or supply chain environment.
  • GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths, or equivalent qualification, such as NVQ Level 2 or BTEC Level 2.
  • Willingness to undertake further training and development opportunities.
