Director of Environmental Observations

We are seeking a talented Associate Director to join our team and lead our environmental observation capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to drive innovation and excellence in technical services and contribute to our mission of making a positive impact on society.
Salary and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary package, including a base pay of £103,000 per annum (pro-rata for part-time hours), an outstanding Civil Service pension, a discretionary performance-related bonus, and relocation assistance may be available.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the management, operations, and continuous improvement of the Met Office observation capabilities.
• Oversee the delivery of our 24/7 operations, including incident management, business continuity planning, and service resilience.
• Influence and shape Met Office strategy to align transformational change in the Services Directorate.
Requirements
• Experienced operational leader with a strong track record of delivering in a geographically dispersed 24/7 workforce.
• Proven ability to formulate clear strategic plans and balance competing demands.
• Successful project and programme management experience, using financial, planning, and delivery methodologies to achieve key business outcomes.
• Ability to create a diverse and inclusive environment and influence and negotiate to achieve strategic objectives.
