About the Role

The Workforce Transformation Manager will play a crucial part in the Workforce Supply and Transformation function at NHS England. This function brings together systems to facilitate improvement and innovation in workforce redesign, optimising the mix of skills and effectiveness through collaboration and partnership working with Integrated Care Systems.

The role will collaborate with stakeholders within the organisation and externally with Integrated Care Systems/Integrated Care Boards, educational institutions, and other essential partners. This collaboration aims to facilitate the strategic implementation of national and regional priorities, strategies and policies across the region and guarantee the achievement of the agreed results within the set deadlines.

The Workforce Transformation Manager will provide dedicated support to workforce transformation projects, deliver a Workforce Transformation Programme that reflects Workforce, Training and Education Directorate and ICS workforce transformation priorities, and lead projects that require innovative new approaches to education, training, workforce, and employment models.

Main Responsibilities

Assist the senior Workforce Transformation team in establishing and maintaining trusted relationships and influential networks with external, senior stakeholders under challenging conditions. This support is crucial for advancing ICS's local and regional workforce transformation goals, fostering partnerships, and ensuring that ICS programme delivery aligns with broader healthcare system priorities.

Working with senior external stakeholders on complex and contentious issues in a political environment relating to local workforce transformation priorities.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Strong understanding of workforce development in healthcare to include workforce transformation approaches, education development and commissioning.
  • Skilled communicator able to build and maintain stakeholder relationships to support and enable management / development and delivery of plans.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to master's level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in a relevant field.
