About the Role

The Environmental Contracts Manager plays a crucial role in delivering and monitoring our major contracts, including waste and recycling, street cleansing, and public conveniences.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover the secondment of the incumbent officer, who will be working with our waste contractor during this period.

We are seeking an experienced contract manager with a background in waste or street cleansing, ideally with knowledge of environmental legislation.

The role involves managing a team of contract and resources officers who interact with residents, Councillors, and contractor staff to improve services.

About You

You will be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent formal management qualification, or hold equivalent experience.

You will have experience of managing major contracts, ideally in the local government setting or from a contractor side, with knowledge of the operations of the waste and/or street cleansing industry and understanding of environmental legislation.

Additionally, you will have excellent communication skills, both externally with residents and internally with team members and Councillors.

The ability to find innovative solutions and develop creative ideas is essential.
