About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant with a specialism in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to join our team at GSL Education. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with ASD to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualised support to students with ASD, enhancing their engagement with the curriculum and promoting positive social interactions.
  • Develop and implement strategies to address the unique needs of students with Autism, fostering a consistent and predictable learning environment.
  • Facilitate social interactions and develop communication skills, encouraging students to engage with peers and staff.
  • Assist with sensory and emotional regulation techniques, ensuring students can manage their surroundings and participate fully in classroom activities.
  • Monitor and record student progress, communicating insights and recommendations to teachers, parents, and specialist staff as needed.
Requirements
  • Must have prior experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role in an SEN-based classroom setting.
  • Have a strong understanding of ASD and commitment to employing evidence-based support strategies.
  • Impressive communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to form positive, trustworthy relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Possess patience, empathy, and flexibility, essential for meeting the varied needs of students with ASD.
