About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Oncologist Consultant to join our team at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our clinical team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our oncology services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of uro-oncology patients and one other tumour site, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective patient care.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, including chemotherapy and radiotherapy, in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and protocols, ensuring that our services are evidence-based and aligned with best practice.
  • Participate in teaching and training activities, sharing your expertise with colleagues and contributing to the development of our clinical teams.
  • Engage in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives, driving innovation and excellence in our services.
Person Specification
  • Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or eligibility for registration within 6 months of interview.
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Medical Oncology or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team and ability to take full and independent responsibility for patient care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and risk management principles, with a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
