We are seeking an experienced Animal Technician to join our team for a 12-month maternity cover role at a leading biotech company in Central London. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research and development activities, specifically focusing on animal procedures to assess vision in mouse models of retinal disease.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Performance of animal procedures assessing vision in mouse models of retinal disease.
  2. Administration of drugs via various routes including gavage, intraperitoneal, intravenous, and intraocular delivery.
  3. Tissue collection and processing for histological and molecular analysis.
  4. Maintenance of animal stocks involving management of breeding, ear clip collection, and genotyping.
  5. Stock-checking, ordering, and restocking of laboratory consumables.
  6. Arranging regular deliveries and shipments of samples and consumables between labs.
Essential Qualifications:
  • A degree in a biological science subject.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years' experience working with laboratory animals, preferably with mice.
  • A current home office-approved animal license (PIL A, B) with PIL C preferred but not essential.

The estimated salary for this role is approximately £40,000 per annum.
