About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our team at HMP Lewes. As a Senior Mental Health Nurse, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality healthcare services to prisoners, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of mental health nurses to deliver a nurse-led service, preventing hospital admissions and promoting patient well-being.
  • Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, and attend emergency response situations.
  • Assess patients' health needs, using evidence-based frameworks and sound clinical knowledge to risk assess and develop treatment plans.
  • Ensure the physical and mental health of prisoners are assessed on admission and throughout their custody, making referrals as necessary and providing clinical judgment on immediate and long-term treatment.
