About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our team at HMP Lewes. As a Senior Mental Health Nurse, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality healthcare services to prisoners, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of mental health nurses to deliver a nurse-led service, preventing hospital admissions and promoting patient well-being.
  • Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, and attend emergency response situations.
  • Assess patients' health needs, using evidence-based frameworks and sound clinical knowledge to risk assess and develop treatment plans.
  • Ensure the physical and mental health of prisoners are assessed on admission and throughout their custody, making referrals as necessary and providing clinical judgment on immediate and long-term treatment.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a qualified Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with a passion for developing your clinical skills in an ever-changing environment. You will have a flexible approach, working within a team that encourages new ideas and opinions on how to improve services. Experience in clinical management or a willingness to take the next step in your career towards leading a team of clinical professionals is essential.
