Job Title: Senior Mental Health Nurse

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our team at HMP Lewes. As a Senior Mental Health Nurse, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality healthcare services to prisoners, promoting their physical and mental well-being, and supporting their rehabilitation.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service, preventing hospital admissions, and ensuring the physical and mental health of prisoners are assessed and addressed. You will work closely with other healthcare professionals, prison staff, and external agencies to provide comprehensive care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service
  • Assess patients' health needs using evidence-based frameworks and risk assess using sound clinical knowledge
  • Ensure physical and mental health of prisoners are assessed and addressed
  • Make clinical judgments regarding immediate needs and long-term treatment
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a qualified Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with a passion for developing your clinical skills in a challenging and dynamic environment. You will have a flexible approach, working within a team that encourages new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.
