Job Summary:

As a Fibre Network Engineer with Wellington Professional Recruitment, you will be working with a Tier 1 Contractor to build fibre networks and connect rural communities throughout Ireland and the UK. The company specialises in the complete design and build of fibre networks, offering a full turn-key solution through innovation, determination, and ability to succeed and deliver.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for evaluations of utilities civils contract as principal contractor.
  • Collect and review worksheets completed by sub-contractors' employees sent in on a weekly basis.
  • Preparation and submission of weekly progress claims to the client. Valuations to be agreed with Client QS representative on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Support the preparation and submission of project variations in line with contract timelines.
  • Review and sign off sub-contractor invoices to be passed to accounts for payment.
  • Preparation and submission of client Final Accounts.
  • Daily liaising with on-field supervisors and site teams.
  • Assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
  • Provide commercial and contractual expertise to contracts, drafting & issuing correspondence.
  • Meet project deliverables on time with emphasis on quality.
  • Attending and providing commercial input to weekly internal meetings, with emphasis on budget monitoring.
  • Monitor production outputs closely produced by in-house & sub-contractor teams with regular dialogue between the commercial department and site supervisors.
Requirements:
  • A Quantity Surveying related degree or qualification and have NEC3 contract knowledge.
  • Experience of working with civils/utilities sector.
  • A sound understanding of the different elements involved in the development of a telecoms network would be looked on positively.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to manage and negotiate with sub-contractors/suppliers.
  • Ability to use Excel and other MS packages to an intermediate to advanced level.
