Job Title: Senior Welfare and Benefits Advisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Welfare and Benefits Advisor to join our Welfare Rights Team in Adult Social Care. The successful candidate will provide specialist advice on welfare benefits to adults who are unable to access benefits services in the community and their carers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide detailed benefits advice and undertake benefit checks, including means and non-means tested benefits, disability benefits, and Universal Credit.
  • Advise on income maximisation, better-off calculations, new benefit claims, and benefit reviews and challenges.
  • Support frontline Adult Social Care colleagues, health practitioners, and community partners by providing 2nd-tier advice, training, and upskilling.
  • Represent clients at the First Tier Tribunal and provide high-quality written submissions for reviews and tribunals.
Requirements:
  • Two years' recent direct experience in giving detailed benefits advice and undertaking benefit checks.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including experience of training or giving talks to large groups of people.
  • Ability to professionally advocate for clients to the Department of Work and Pensions and other relevant organisations.
  • Experience of working to deadlines and representing clients in First Tier Tribunals.
