Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sports Coach to join our team at GSL Education. As a Sports Coach - SEN Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a vibrant and inclusive school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher and multi-agency teams in devising learning and care plans to encourage children and young people to reach their full potential.
  • Manage triggers of challenging behaviour while supporting children academically, emotionally, and socially.
  • Set clear boundaries and provide a safe and supportive environment for children and young people.
  • Work collaboratively with the school team to develop and implement strategies to support children and young people with SEN.
  • Provide individualized support to children and young people with SEN, including those with SEMH, Attachment Disorder, Autism, ADHD, Aggression, and those from Looked After Children (LAC) backgrounds.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children and young people with SEN, particularly those with challenging behaviour.
  • Experience working in an education setting is not required, but experience working with young people in a support setting is desired.
  • Experience working with Challenging Behaviour in an education, secure, residential, or support setting.
  • Background in Challenging SEN Provisions, Youth/Community/Social Services, Residential Support, or Mental Health Support Services (including Crisis or Suicide Prevention).
  • Desirable qualifications include Team Teach, Mappa, Nappi, or Pillars Training.
  • Clear Enhanced DBS registered to the update service.
  • Ability to provide a full career history and two referees.
