Sports Coach - SEN Specialist

GSL Education is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sports Coach to work with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a secondary provision. As a Sports Coach - SEN Specialist, you will provide 1:1 and group support to children with complex behavioural needs, using sports as a therapeutic method to manage challenging behaviours and support learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 behaviour interventions for pupils with challenging behaviour and mental health difficulties.
  • Offer general group support and use sports as an enrichment activity.
  • Support the Class Teacher with daily tasks and planning.
  • Take small groups of children out of the classroom to use sports as a learning method.
  • Encourage learning and concentration in lessons.
  • Lead sports classes indoors and outdoors.
  • Identify triggers of specific behaviours.
  • Use sports as a method of de-escalating situations.
  • Act as a positive role model, energetic and always willing to support.
Requirements:
  • Experience in coaching/working with children or young people with additional needs.
  • Experience working with challenging behaviour, Autism, ADHD, and Social and Emotional Mental Health.
  • Relevant qualifications; qualifications in multiple sports will be an advantage.
  • Good understanding of the curriculum, including English, Maths, and Science.
  • Ability to work full-time - 5 days a week.
