About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious psychiatrist to support a unique NHS trust going through transition and maintaining safe and effective services during this period. As a Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry, you will be expected to take on an active role providing consultant leadership and oversight that could include inpatient care, recovery service, early intervention in psychosis service, crisis resolution and home treatment as well as adult (ageless) community mental health services.

Main Responsibilities

*To support and help develop the integrated care pathways.
*To provide statutory clinical reports as requested.
*To apply an evidence-based approach to clinical practice.
*To provide clinical leadership in psychiatry to the multidisciplinary team, in co-operation with the Service Manager.
*To promote multidisciplinary working.
*To support the development of a seamless service and continuity of care which are patient centred and respect social inclusion and cultural diversity.
*To provide clinical support and supervision to multidisciplinary teams, including complex risk assessments.
*To undertake Section 12 and Approved Clinician duties related to the Mental Health Act (1983), with reference to the current Code of Conduct of Practice.

Person Specification

Essential qualifications include Full GMC Registration with license to practice, Section 12 Approval Approved Clinician status MRCPsych, and Relevant CCT or CESR. Desirable qualifications include Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register via CCT in General Adult Psychiatry (or within 6 months at time of interview) or equivalent, and Relevant Higher Degree e.g. MD, PHD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications.

Essential experience includes Demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Adult Psychiatry, Knowledge of UK Hospital Systems (or equivalent), and Knowledge and evidence of participation in CPD (including being in Good standing with the College for the purposes of CPD). Desirable experience includes Experience of providing ECT unsupervised.

E.g., In Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) show a score of at least 7.0 in each domain (speaking, listening, reading and writing) with an overall score of at least 7.5 to be achieved in a single sitting and within 24 months of the time of application, and If applicants believe that they have adequate communication skills but do not fit into one of the examples, they need to provide evidence.
