Overview

Betfred is seeking an experienced Compliance Team Lead to join their Retail Anti Money Laundering team. This is a great opportunity for a motivated professional to take on a leadership role and contribute to the company's compliance efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Deputise for the MLRO in their absence, providing evidence and witness statements to law enforcement and liaising with investigating officers.
  • Assess internal SARs and decide whether to submit them externally.
  • Attend meetings with Regional Managers and Head of Retail Operations.
  • Chair weekly compliance meetings in the MLRO's absence.
  • Lead the AML team to achieve Betfred's risk-based approach.
  • Monitor and review the effectiveness of AML analyst daily/weekly tasks.
  • Identify trends and system weaknesses, and develop monitoring systems/controls to mitigate risks.
  • Manage and audit the effectiveness of Anti Money Laundering policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Conduct CDD and EDD on high-net-worth customers.
  • Report suspicious activity to the MLRO.
  • Assess internal SARs and decide whether to submit them externally to the NCA.
  • Report key events to the Head of Retail Compliance/MLRO.
  • Develop and deliver staff training materials.
  • Stay up-to-date with current AML/CTF laws, legislation, and industry guidance.
  • Implement new laws, legislation, and industry guidance within company policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Report new processes to senior management and assess their commercial impact.
  • Manage and respond to regulator requests, including those from the Gambling Commission.
  • Identify and report risks to senior management in a timely manner.

Skills & Experience

  • Confidence in dealing with senior management.
  • Experience with CDD/AML procedures is desirable.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong knowledge of current and prospective regulation that impacts business.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meeting deadlines while adhering to best practice guidelines.

Desirable

  • Qualification in AML (or studying for qualification).
  • Experience in a management role or leadership position.
  • Experience in customer due diligence and customer risk profiling.
  • Confidence and decisiveness in making and justifying decisions.
  • Flexibility in approach to work and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
