AML Team Leader

Job Overview
Betfred is seeking a highly skilled AML Team Leader to join our Retail Anti Money Laundering team. As a key member of our Compliance department, you will be responsible for leading our AML team to achieve our risk-based approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Deputise for the MLRO in their absence, receiving DPAs/Production orders and liaising with investigating officers.
- Assess internal SARs and decide whether to submit them externally.
- Attend meetings with Regional Managers/Head of Retail Operations in the MLRO's absence.
- Chair weekly compliance meetings in the MLRO's absence.
- Monitor and review the effectiveness of AML analyst daily/weekly tasks.
- Identify trends, system weaknesses, and develop monitoring systems/controls to mitigate risks.
- Manage, monitor, and audit the effectiveness of all Anti Money Laundering policies, procedures, and controls.
- Conduct CDD/EDD on high-net-worth customers and make recommendations to senior managers.
- Report suspicious activity to the MLRO.
- Deputise for the MLRO in assessing internal SARs and deciding whether to submit them externally.
- Report key events to the Head of Retail Compliance/MLRO immediately.
- Assist in developing and delivering staff training materials.
- Stay up-to-date with current and relevant AML/CTF laws, legislation, and industry guidance.
- Implement new laws, legislation, and industry guidance within our policies, procedures, and controls.
- Report new processes of significance to senior management and their potential commercial impact.
- Manage and respond to requests from regulators, including the Gambling Commission.
- Identify and report risks to senior management in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Confident in dealing with senior management.
- Experience of CDD/AML procedures is an advantage.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong knowledge of current and prospective regulation that impacts business.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work under pressure, to precise best practice guidelines while meeting deadlines.
Desirable
- Qualification in AML (or studying for qualification).
- Experience in a Management Role/Leadership.
- Experience in customer due diligence and customer risk profiling.
- Confidence/Decisiveness – both to make and justify decisions.
- Flexibility in approach to work and able to work in a dynamic environment.
