Acute Mental Health Support

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Mental Health Specialist to join our Acute Care Team in Greater Manchester. The successful candidate will be part of a well-resourced and enthusiastic Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) comprising consultant psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, junior doctors, nurses, social workers, OTs, and support workers.

The primary focus of this role is to assist with a wide range of duties including assessment, intervention, and evaluation/audits under the supervision of our Clinical Psychologist. This will involve working as part of a psychologically informed team providing high-quality evidence-based care to acutely unwell service users.

We offer an in-house rolling training programme to ensure that our staff continue to deliver up-to-date, evidenced-based interventions. As part of your role, you will facilitate access to this training programme and contribute to its development.

You will have access to high-quality supervision from our Clinical Psychologist and be part of a supportive network of clinical psychologists/therapists working across various services.

Informal visits and walk rounds are encouraged, providing opportunities to engage with the local community and build relationships with stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To work as part of the psychological service provision within the Salford Home-Based Treatment Team.
  • To assist the qualified Clinical Psychologist within the team, under their supervision and with operational support from the HBTT Manager.

Working for Our Organisation:

Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust employs over 6,400 members of staff, delivering services from more than 160 locations. We provide inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bolton, Manchester, Salford, Trafford, and Wigan, as well as specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester and beyond.

Greater Manchester is a vibrant and diverse region offering a great quality of life, with easy access to urban and rural environments. Our people enjoy their work, have opportunities to learn and develop their skills, and are encouraged to generate new ideas that improve care for our service users.

Benefits:

  • A competitive salary, estimated at £25,000-£35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • A comprehensive benefits package, including enhanced pay for evening shifts, Saturdays, and Sundays, plus a generous annual leave allowance.
  • An excellent pension scheme and cycle-to-work scheme.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression.
  • A commitment to staff wellbeing and a supportive work environment.

Person Specification:

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with:

  • A minimum Upper Second Class Degree in Psychology or a related field, with entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
  • Experience of working with people with mental health difficulties and under supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

What We Offer:

We are committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and welcome applications from candidates from all backgrounds. We offer a supportive and inclusive work environment, with opportunities for professional development and career progression.
