About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Senior Manager to lead our Patient Safety activities with strategic direction, visionary leadership, and the development of effective frameworks.

Main Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Trust's Patient Safety activities, ensuring a coordinated and systematic approach.
  • Relationship Management: Develop and maintain proactive and effective working relationships with stakeholders, including Non-Executive Directors, Executive Directors, Commissioners, and staff at all levels within the Trust.
  • Support and Guidance: Be visible and accessible, providing lead support and guidance to healthcare professionals, managers, and staff in all aspects of patient safety.
  • Incident Management: Oversee the Trust's Serious Incidents requiring investigation process, ensuring a transparent and focused approach.
  • Learning from Mortality: Manage the Learning from Mortality process, ensuring the Trust learns from every incident.
  • Duty of Candour: Lead the Duty of Candour process, promoting transparency and honesty in patient care.
  • Confidential Inquiries: Oversee the National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Homicide and external reviews, including Domestic Homicide Reviews.
  • Team Management: Manage the staff within the Patient Safety function, fostering a supportive and effective team environment.
Person Specification
  • Experience: Working with service users, carers, stakeholders, and members of the public, as well as delivering a shared agenda with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Skills: Proficient with the use of IT software, including Word and Excel, as well as conflict resolution, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
  • Qualifications: Postgraduate qualification (masters) in a relevant subject or equivalent demonstrable experience.
