About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Monitoring Project Officer to join our team in the Midlands and East of England region. As a key member of our internal consultancy, you will work closely with regional archaeologists to recruit, train, and support teams of volunteers in carrying out condition monitoring of archaeological sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with ARCGIS online and field-maps to roll out a digital model across the region
  • Manage, update, and use the Historic Buildings Sites and Monuments Record (HBSMR) to produce maps and documentation suitable for volunteer use
  • Input, analyse, and prioritise data resulting from the monitoring work
  • Support with volunteer recruitment and liaison with volunteers and property teams
  • Communicate the value of the work we do more widely within the Trust, running webinars, producing newsletters, and updates
Requirements
  • Good knowledge and experience using GIS and databases such as HBSMR and HER
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Knowledge and understanding of landscape archaeology
  • Skilled communicator, able to build strong relationships within diverse teams, both internally and externally
  • Flexible thinker and problem-solver, skilled at negotiating and building productive networks, and confident in using your expertise to influence decisions
  • Proactive and organised, with experience of managing projects and a talent for multi-tasking and getting things done, strongly focused on detail, quality, cost, and time
  • Leader for inclusion, able to create an inclusive culture
