Job Title: Advanced Pharmacist

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Advanced Pharmacist to join our Cardiovascular Pharmacy Team at King's College Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, evidence-based, clinically-led pharmacy services to patients across South East London, South East England, and beyond.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Deputise for the Principal Pharmacist, Cardiovascular Care Group
  • Act as a specialist role model and an expert in the medical management within the Cardiovascular Care Group
  • Lead and manage clinical pharmacy services in the Cardiovascular Care Group in conjunction with the Principal Pharmacist
  • Develop and participate in outpatient clinics to deliver and promote high-quality, cost-effective, and patient-focused pharmaceutical care
  • Actively participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds, delivering and promoting high-quality, cost-effective, patient-focused pharmaceutical care
  • Work with the Associate Chief Pharmacist, Clinical Services to develop, manage, and support non-medical prescribing within pharmacy and the Trust
  • Provide specialist pharmacist input into the Trust Non-Medical Prescribing Group (NMPG) including the management of Patient Group Directions and Written Instructions
  • Development, implementation, and audit of local guidelines
  • Supervise and train pharmacy staff at ward level
  • Provide education and training of healthcare professionals within and outside the Trust
  • Financial reporting, drug usage, and expenditure forecasting, drug budget management, and work on CIPs (cost improvement programmes)
  • Participate in practice and clinical research and audit
Requirements:
  • MPharm (Masters Degree)
  • Registered Pharmacist (1 year competency assessed and examined professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council)
  • Postgraduate Diploma in pharmacy practice or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Specialist clinical knowledge and skills relevant to the area of practice
  • Experience of working with senior healthcare professionals outside of pharmacy
  • Experience of supervising others
  • Experience of protocol/guideline development
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary team working
  • Ability to provide highly complex information on medicines use, clinical pharmacy, and financial issues to all levels of healthcare professionals (up to and including senior consultants/professor level)
  • Able to implement and manage change
  • Ability to work well under pressure by prioritizing and managing time effectively
  • Registered independent prescriber or willingness to complete
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Able to motivate self and others
  • Member of the RPS faculty
  • Demonstration of advanced practice using evidence mapped to the RPS Advanced Practice Framework
