We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic pharmacist to join our team at the Transformation Unit. As an Advanced Pharmacist, you will play a key role in supporting the provision, development, and evaluation of our Cardiovascular and Lipid Disorder services.

Job Overview

The Pharmacy Service at the Transformation Unit is highly regarded for its clinical pharmacy services, with a team of around 270 staff members working closely with multi-disciplinary teams. We are proud of the high-quality patient care we deliver, and our patients are at the center of everything we do.

We are looking for a pharmacist with a passion for high-quality patient care to support the development and evaluation of our Cardiovascular and Lipid Disorder services. Main Duties of the Job
  • Provide expert advice and support in their specialist field to colleagues to identify, stratify, and optimize treatment pathways.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning of Cardiovascular Services and Lipid Disorders.
  • In conjunction with the Principal Pharmacist, manage and implement services designed to improve the pharmaceutical care to patients and extend the boundaries of clinical practice.
  • Identify, support, and participate in financial reporting and drug budget management within the relevant directorate.
  • Participate in service metric collection, clinical audit, research, risk management, and clinical guideline development.
Person Specification
  • Registered Pharmacist
  • Master's degree (MSc) in pharmacy or equivalent
  • MSc or Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent clinical pharmacy qualifications
  • Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice
  • Membership of professional groups and/or relevant specialist societies
  • Membership of RPS
  • Educational supervisor accreditation
  • Formal management training
  • Genomics modules
Knowledge and Skills
  • Demonstrates a good core knowledge of therapeutics and pharmacology with a record of successful application in current post
  • Ability to apply theoretical knowledge to ward/clinic-based situations
  • Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development
  • Demonstrates awareness of a commitment to Clinical Governance
  • Demonstrates an awareness of interface issues
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant NHS policy or project-specific policy context
  • Ability to demonstrate expertise in lipid disorders and cardiovascular disease prevention
  • Evidence of active contribution to relevant specialist interest groups
  • Aware of the latest evidence and research within cardiology and ability to apply evidence-based practice into patient care
  • Record of research and/or audit and/or scholarly publications
  • Membership of regional/national/international specialist interest groups relevant to field of practice
Experience
  • Ability to ensure safe, clinically effective, and cost-efficient use of cardiovascular drugs
  • Experience of having managed an area of clinical pharmacy services and deliver pharmaceutical services to cardiovascular patients
  • Experience in outpatient clinics
  • Evidence of leading programmes of education and training
  • Involvement in the development of evidence-based clinical guidelines and protocols
  • Extended clinical practice underpinned by training and assessment
  • Experience of both undertaking and supervising audit of clinical practice
  • Experience as a directorate pharmacist
  • Specialist clinical pharmacy experience in a relevant area
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Practice Research experience
  • Clinical experience in intensive care or another level 2/3 environment
