Job Title: Technical Project Lead for Adult Skills Programmes

Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Project Lead to join our team at the Greater London Authority (GLA). This is an exciting opportunity to lead and support a small team of data analysts in delivering software and data systems to manage adult skills programmes.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in technical project management, with experience of using agile principles to plan and deliver complex projects. They will also have knowledge of IT hardware and coding environment requirements, as well as the ability to read and understand python and SQL code.

About the Team

The GLA's Communities and Skills unit is responsible for overseeing adult skills delivery in London, working closely with the Education Skills Funding Agency's technical teams and other Devolved Authority technical leads. The successful candidate will be working collaboratively with these teams to develop mutually beneficial adaptations to the national data collection systems to support GLA objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the team to deliver software and data systems to collect, store and process programme data and to deliver services and data products required to manage skills programmes and pay providers
  • Design new and adapt existing data solutions to meet programme needs
  • Embed a robust approach to testing and quality assurance for all software changes prior to release
  • Advise on a data product and systems roadmap, including time estimates for work
Requirements
  • Experience of using agile project management principles to plan and deliver technical projects and solutions
  • Knowledge of IT hardware and coding environment requirements
  • Ability to read and understand python and SQL code, and set up and support others to use the appropriate environments and tools
  • A knowledge of adult skills programmes and the national data collection system and key dataset, the Individualised Learner Record, or demonstrated ability to learn new programmes and datasets quickly
