Renewable Energy Underwriter Job Description

FM Global is a leading property insurer of the world's largest businesses, providing engineering-based risk management and property insurance solutions. We're seeking a skilled Renewable Energy Underwriter to join our international team servicing a global book of renewable energy clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform construction underwriting and insurance servicing activities on existing and prospective accounts with large projects in the renewable energy space, focusing on photovoltaic solar, onshore wind, and battery energy storage systems.
  • Provide underwriting assistance and guidance to Account Managers in handling smaller construction projects, as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Renewable Underwriting Manager and Staff Underwriting on the development and expansion of renewable construction underwriting strategy, organizational development, and coaching.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of renewable energy and insurance market trends, and broader portfolio performance.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in construction underwriting, with a primary focus on large utility scale renewable energy projects.
  • A proven track record in underwriting, risk assessment, and use of authority to profitably manage your own book of large utility scale renewable energy projects.
  • A deep understanding of the principles and practices of construction underwriting, risk assessment, and risk mitigation, specifically for renewable energy projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make independent decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
