About the Role

We are seeking an experienced underwriter to join our Renewable Energy team at Hiscox, a leading global specialist insurer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for underwriting a broad book of renewable energy risks, with a focus on the onshore segment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite renewable energy risks in line with individual underwriting authority and wider portfolio guidelines.
  • Develop and strengthen product and underwriting knowledge and judgement, including review of wordings.
  • Monitor and keep abreast of changes in underwriting, regulation, and compliance.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key brokers and clients, representing Hiscox at meetings, conferences, and client visits.
  • Work effectively with internal stakeholders, including Engineering, Pricing, Claims, Exposure Management, and Operations.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable and meaningful experience underwriting renewable risks in the London market.
  • Experience underwriting Power, Offshore, and Construction risks may be beneficial.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to assess risks and demonstrate accurate judgement.
  • A driven and curious individual with a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Established market presence amongst key brokers and clients.
  • Ability to work effectively with the Engineering/Pricing/Catastrophe Modelling team.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to work under pressure, maintaining a high attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel as needed and attend business social events.
  • Progress in ACII examinations or a commitment to complete them.
