Job Title: Renewable Energy & Power Assistant Underwriter

Job Summary:

Nashrock Insurance Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Renewable Energy & Power Assistant Underwriter to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will play a crucial role in assisting with administrative tasks, conducting initial risk assessments, maintaining policy documentation, and compiling Management Information (MI) reports.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Renewable Energy and Power Underwriters in managing the book(s) of business, ensuring timely and accurate processing of policies and claims.
  • Evaluate renewable energy project proposals by gathering thorough information and documenting key details.
  • Conduct preliminary risk assessments and analyses for various renewable energy projects, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date underwriting files and databases, ensuring all documentation is complete and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders, including brokers, service providers, and departments such as Compliance, Operations/Credit Control, and Claims Handling, to ensure efficient underwriting processes.
  • Support the preparation and issuance of insurance quotes, binders, policies, and endorsements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Monitor and track policy renewals, ensuring timely follow-up and processing to minimize potential risks and maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by responding promptly and professionally to inquiries from clients, brokers, and underwriters, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in renewable energy technologies to support informed underwriting decisions and drive business growth.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of underwriting guidelines and best practices, ensuring consistency and excellence in underwriting processes.
  • Handle various MI and other requests to aid the monitoring of class performance, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for growth.
  • Assist with marketing activities, such as managing broker contact lists, arranging corporate events, and helping draft brochures, to promote the company's services and products.
  • Immediately raise high-risk concerns/issues with the Renewable Energy and Power Underwriters, the Director of Renewable Energy and Power, and the Managing Director as they arise, ensuring prompt action and resolution.
  • Provide weekly updates on issues, concerns, and opportunities in team underwriting meetings, ensuring transparency and collaboration.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Renewable Energy and Power, and the Managing Director, to support the company's goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience at an appropriate level in a similar environment, ideally 2 years of insurance experience, preferably in Renewable Energy or Conventional Power.
  • A Levels qualified as a minimum, with passes in Maths and English at GCSE.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, good analytical, problem-solving, and process management skills, and excellent interpersonal and negotiation abilities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) and basic internet-based research skills.
  • Working towards or willing to work towards the Chartered Institute of Insurance (ACII) qualification.
  • Possesses the desire to eventually become a Renewable Energy and Power Underwriter, with a strong commitment to professional development and growth.
