Job Description

Nashrock Insurance Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Renewable Energy Underwriter Assistant to join our team in Central London. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will play a crucial role in assisting with administrative tasks, conducting initial risk assessments, maintaining policy documentation, and compiling Management Information (MI) reports.

Main Responsibilities
  • Underwriting Support: Assist the Renewable Energy and Power Underwriters in managing the book(s) of business, ensuring accurate and timely processing of insurance quotes, binders, policies, and endorsements.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct preliminary risk assessments and analyses for various renewable energy projects, ensuring thorough information gathering and documentation.
  • Policy Administration: Maintain accurate underwriting files and databases, ensuring all documentation is complete and up-to-date.
  • Stakeholder Management: Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders, such as brokers, service providers, and departments including Compliance, Operations/Credit Control, and Claims Handling, to ensure efficient underwriting processes.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly and professionally to inquiries from clients, brokers, and underwriters.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in renewable energy technologies to support informed underwriting decisions.
  • Underwriting Guidelines: Assist in the development and implementation of underwriting guidelines and best practices.
  • MI and Reporting: Handle various MI and other requests to aid the monitoring of class performance.
  • Marketing Support: Assist with marketing activities, such as managing broker contact lists, arranging corporate events, and helping draft brochures.
  • Issue Escalation: Immediately raise high-risk concerns/issues with the Renewable Energy and Power Underwriters, the Director of Renewable Energy and Power, and the Managing Director as they arise.
  • Team Collaboration: Provide weekly updates on issues, concerns, and opportunities in team underwriting meetings.
Person Specification
  • Relevant Experience: Relevant experience at an appropriate level in a similar environment. Ideally, 2 years of insurance experience, preferably in Renewable Energy or Conventional Power. We will consider candidates from Marine/Energy/Power.
  • Qualifications: A Levels qualified as a minimum, with passes in Maths and English at GCSE.
  • Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills, good analytical, problem-solving, and process management skills, and excellent interpersonal and negotiation abilities.
  • Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) and basic internet-based research skills.
  • Professional Development: Working towards or willing to work towards the Chartered Institute of Insurance (ACII) qualification.
  • Career Aspiration: Possesses the desire to eventually become a Renewable Energy and Power Underwriter.
