Job Summary
As a Senior Clinical Nurse Leader at NHS Blood and Transplant, you will be responsible for leading a team of Healthcare Assistants and Donor Care Supervisors to provide high-quality personal care to donors. Your clinical expertise will be essential in assessing donor suitability and ensuring the safe running of blood donation sessions.
Main Responsibilities
Key duties include:
- Taking clinical responsibility for ensuring the safe assessment and blood donation of donors.
- Being accountable for the safe running of a blood donation session.
- Maintaining an excellent donor experience.
- Developing and maintaining the competency and skills of your team.
- Adapting communication styles for difficult conversations.
- Maintaining professional development to drive improvements in practice.

Person Specification
Essential qualifications and experience include:
- Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration.
- Full and valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and understanding of best practice in delivering high-quality care.
- Experience of supporting the professional development of others.
- Understanding of clinical audit and research.
- Experience of supporting improvements and change in practice.
- Awareness of patient safety initiatives and risk management.
- Experience of working with Information Technology, including hand-held devices and Microsoft Office packages.
