About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Porter to join our team at Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital. As a Porter, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital, providing exceptional patient care and contributing to a positive and supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the movement of patients, staff, and equipment throughout the hospital, using beds, trolleys, wheelchairs, and other equipment as needed.
  • Collect and transport pathology samples, medical supplies, and other materials as required.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of storage areas, ensuring that all areas are tidy and well-stocked.
  • Identify and report any maintenance or repair issues to the facilities team, helping to mitigate risk and sustain a high standard of décor.
  • Transport equipment and supplies between departments, using simple tools and equipment as necessary.
  • Support clinical staff with tasks such as delivering supplies, collecting waste, and providing general assistance.
  • Participate in the sweeping of leaves and other grounds maintenance tasks to ensure the hospital's exterior is well-maintained.
  • Collect and transport bulk linen and other supplies to maintain departmental stock levels.
  • Collect and dispose of general and clinical waste in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role or a strong aptitude for the position.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures and protocols.
  • Basic level of English language proficiency, with good communication skills.
  • Good customer service skills, with a focus on providing a positive experience for patients and colleagues.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
