About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Porter to join our team at Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital. As a Porter, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital, providing exceptional patient care and contributing to a positive and supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the movement of patients, staff, and equipment throughout the hospital, using beds, trolleys, and wheelchairs.
  • Collect and transport pathology samples, medical supplies, and other materials as required.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of storage areas, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for patients and staff.
  • Identify and report any maintenance or repair issues to the facilities team, helping to mitigate risk and sustain a high standard of décor.
  • Transport equipment and supplies between departments, using simple tools and equipment as needed.
  • Support clinical staff with tasks such as delivering supplies, collecting waste, and sweeping leaves from hospital paths.
  • Collect and transport bulk linen to replenish departmental stock.
  • Dispose of general and clinical waste in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role or the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a good basic level of English language proficiency.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer service and patient care.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to follow health and safety procedures.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
