**Job Title:** Continuous Improvement Manager

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Continuous Improvement Manager to join our client's small, dynamic engineering business. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in lean manufacturing principles and experience leading safety initiatives.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Evaluate and improve shop floor efficiency by identifying bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
  • Reduce waste, labour inefficiencies, and energy consumption, and optimize resources.
  • Drive Health and Safety Improvements by identifying risks and developing preventative measures and implementing best practices that comply with regulatory standards.
  • Implement 5C Methodology and Shop Floor Organisation.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement Projects ranging from project optimisations and equipment upgrades to employee training initiatives.
  • Facilitate Kaizen Events; organise and lead Kaizen or similar improvement workshops to engage employees in identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor and analyse KPIs such as cycle times, productivity, and safety metrics.
  • Champion CI culture including providing training and mentorship to build internal capability in CI tools and methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance and quality standards are met: ensure that all changes comply with industry standards and customer specifications.
  • Communicate and collaborate with leadership. Regularly report to management on the status of improvements.

**Requirements:**

  • Practical knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, including 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, and waste reduction strategies.
  • Experience leading safety initiatives or collaborating with health and safety teams in a fabrication or manufacturing setting.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple small-scale projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence staff at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on approach to troubleshooting operational challenges.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and the use of metrics to drive decision-making.
  • Ability to lead training and development workshops on CI principles and foster employee engagement in improvement initiatives.

**Desirable Requirements:**

  • Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt) qualified (or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with metal fabrication processes, tools, and equipment.
  • Experience working in SME organisations would be highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and shop floor management software (e.g. ERP/MRP systems).
