Medical Secretary

About the Role
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is seeking an experienced and organised administrator to join our team as a Medical Secretary. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive and high-quality secretarial and administrative support to two Consultants within the General Surgery Directorate.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to Consultants, including managing diaries, arranging meetings, and preparing correspondence.
- Liaise with colleagues, patients, and relatives in a professional and sympathetic manner.
- Manage and prioritise workload using experience and initiative.
- Work independently to provide secretarial and administrative office functions, adhering to ABUHB policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Good standard of education.
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of CWS, WPAS, and MedSecs.
- Excellent communication and telephone skills.
- Able to deal with patients and relatives in a sympathetic manner.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a secretarial role within the NHS.
- RSA/OCR level III or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.
- Experience of working in a hospital environment.
- Ability to speak Welsh.
