About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and organised administrator to join our team as a Medical Secretary. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive and high-quality secretarial and administrative support to two Consultants within the General Surgery Directorate.

Main Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Providing administrative support to Consultants and other healthcare professionals
  • Liaising with patients, relatives, and colleagues in a professional manner
  • Managing and prioritising their own workload using experience and initiative
  • Working independently to provide secretarial and administrative office functions

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A good standard of education
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of CWS, WPAS, and MedSecs
  • Excellent communication and telephone skills
  • Able to deal with patients and relatives in a sympathetic manner

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in a secretarial role within the NHS
  • RSA/OCR level III or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience
  • Experience of working in a hospital environment

Desirable Skills

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role.
