About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and organized administrator to join our team as a Medical Secretary. This role will be based within the General Surgery Directorate, and the successful candidate will be required to provide comprehensive and high-quality secretarial and administrative support to two Consultants.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to Consultants, including managing diaries, arranging meetings, and preparing correspondence.
  • Liaise with colleagues, patients, and parents/guardians in a professional manner.
  • Manage and prioritize own workload using experience and initiative.
  • Work independently to provide secretarial and administrative office functions, adhering to ABUHB policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Good standard of education.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of CWS, WPAS, and MedSecs.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous experience in a secretarial role within the NHS.
  • RSA/OCR level III or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Experience of working in a hospital environment.
  • Excellent communication and telephone skills.
  • Able to deal with patients and relatives in a sympathetic manner.
  • Confidentiality.
  • Ability to speak Welsh.
